For those of you that have followed our blog for more than a year, know that it's been a year since we lost Dave's brother to a farming accident, you can read more about that here - if you've just joined the blog.
This past weekend we joined Dave's siblings, parents, and Jodi as we all faced the one year anniversary of the accident. At a service on Saturday there was an opportunity to share your thoughts, memories, and things that have happened over the past year. Dave's dad shared something from 1 Samuel 7:12 that really seemed to summarize the weekend for our family. The verse is: Then Samuel took a stone and set it up between Mizpah and Shen and called its name Ebenezer; for he said, "Thus far the LORD has helped us." It has been a year, and thus far the lord has helped each person make it through each day.
Dave and his dad built a cross to put in the field. It will probably stand there until long after we're all gone. Balloons were launched with a special message attached in memory of Chris - and encouraging anyone that might find it to visit a bible passage online, and to discover Christ in their life.
Here are some pictures from the weekend:

What a beautiful way to remember Chris. I'm glad you could be together with family this weekend.
Jill & Dave - I'm just now getting a chance to catch up on your blog. The cross is very touching and a really neat thing to do. I know God has been with Dave's family this past year and will continue to be. What a blessing Chris was to so many people.
That is so neat! I'm glad you were able to be with his family that weekend. You guys are in my prayers!
