Could Have Been Worse!
This is Dave again....gotta give Jill a break from her blogging blitz! I remember growing up as kid that we a had book entitled "Could Have Been Worse." It was about this poor guy that had all this terrible stuff happen to him, and after each tragic episode he would always say, "could have been worse!" My mom would go into her uncontrollable laughing spells that we loved so much as she would read it to us. It wouldn't be long before she would quote it back to us kids if we started complaining.
Tonight Jill and I went mountain biking out at Fort Custer with our friends Nick and Angie. Jill and I had been out last weekend and had taken the "yellow" trail which is the easiest one. We figured it was time to try out the "green" trail tonight which is the intermediate trail.
Everything was going fine and we were enjoying the added technical difficulty that the green trail offered until I had a little accident. I was in the lead and we came around a blind corner that dropped off very steeply and broke sharply to the right. There were also 2 logs built across the path to help stop erosion that had to jump over. I was going too fast for such terrain and ended up running off the path and flipping head first over my handle bars and landing head first like I was diving. (the slang word for this is hebb....ie, Dave had a total hebb on the trail today). My brother Chris did a lot of mountain biking in high school and he had better term for this but I can't remember what it was. I miss him and wish I could just pick up the phone and ask!
So back to my story my crash could have been worse! As you will see in the picture below the strap on my helmet left a perfectly round contusion on my neck....kinda like a cross between ring worm and a hickey. Should make for some interesting conversations next week in KC as I will be meeting all my suppliers. I'll just tell them it's contagious....

The Best Part of Waking Up.....
..... is Folgers in your cup!! I bet you could finish that line on your own, huh? The Folgers Jingle must be one of the best known TV Jingles in commercial history. Can you think of one that is better known? If so, please leave a comment.
I've been watching the following Folgers commercial lately - it seems to be on a lot in the mornings while we get ready for work. (We typically watch the Today Show while getting ready in the mornings.) It really does inspire me to 1. Drink Coffee, and 2. Take up Riverdancing!! I doubt that I ever do - but it just looks so FUN! (As if I need another hobby!?!) Here is the commercial along with three others that I either remember, or think are fabulous. I will label them A. Riverdance; B: Rockapella; C: Christmas Homecoming; D: Millers Morning (just for Dave my former milling man!) ...... Please vote in the poll on the right!!!!! Dave does drink coffee every morning by the way, I don't think it started when he became a miller, though..... ? Maybe he can blog about that next!
A. Riverdance
B. Rockapella
C. Christmas Homecoming

A Lesson on Wheat
Thanks to my lovely wife's little poll, apparently there are some of you that want to hear from me! Yes, believe it or not this is Dave typing tonight! This should be boring enough to curb any further request! :-)
We also check for insects such as army worms and cereal leaf beetles as they can completely destroy the crop if not controlled. We saw very little of each this year.

Side-By-Sides
Here are a few of my other favorite side-by-sides this week. Did any of you ever watch "Kids Incorporated" on the Disney channel? I loved that show growing up!!! Well, it was only recently that I realized my favorite character from that show, Stacy Ferguson, is actually "Fergie" from the Black Eyed Peas. What a shocker!!!! Here is the side-by-side:

Next up - one of the fabulous celebrity performances on the American Idol finale.... Steve Martin appeared playing the banjo, and apparently he has a new album out! Did he look familiar to anyone though?? Everyone has always said that my step-dad, Randy, looks just like Steve Martin! I agree, here is the side-by-side:

Mobile Uploads
First and Foremost: Kris Allen won American Idol!!! YEAH!!! It was actually the best finale I've ever seen...AND, this is the first time that I've thought it'd be fun to go see their tour. Good group!! Many, many great guest artists on the finale - truely, someone for everyone to enjoy.
Now - todays topic: Mobile Uploads. (Also, sidenote - you will hear from Dave this week, but he has been traveling and will return tomorrow.)
I thought it'd be fun to start taking a few pictures with my phone, while I'm on the road and sharing parts of my day!
Have you ever seen a cat with a "Lion Cut"? They are really fun for fluffy cats!!! I was at this clinic last week and this cat was fluffy...and I said, "I think he'd look really good with a lion cut." And today when I was in there, he had the new cut!!! I think it is VERY cute. It almost looks like he is wearing little Uggs on his feet! What do you think?
The next picture I took in a little itty bitty town that I have a clinic in.. it is called Three Oaks. It is found in South Western Michigan. I've been calling on them since we first moved here, and I just noticed this week this sign..... "Home of 'Prancer' the Movie" How cool is that??? Parts of it were filmed here, and I can see why...we get more snow here than anywhere else!! haha. Anyone remember that movie?? I loved it - it came out in 1989. Lots of good things happened in 1989.
The last and final picture for today.... is a Jeep Wrangler. This guy was right in front of me on the highway. Another Jeep Wrangler approached him from the other direction...they both put their hands out and gave each other a wave. And guess what????? It is a Jeep thing, and you wouldn't understand. Oh, but I DO UNDERSTAND...all of you cliq Jeep Wrangler owners....and if I didn't have this high mileage job or if Wranglers got better gas mileage... I'd TOTALLY be a part of your cliq.
The End! P.S. My wrangler would have way bigger tires on it than this guy.Posted by Dave and Jill 2 comments

Meet the Lunch Bunch! It is my friend Heather's birthday today... she is in the khaki colored sweatshirt! This is the group of girls that I ate lunch with every day Senior Year. We were allowed to walk "up-town" for lunch if we wanted --- but all of us ate lunch together every day in the cafeteria. We loved the cafeteria food!! (For the most part!) A couple of girls packed their lunches. In fact we are missing one lunch-buncher in the picture.
Do you see me? I thought it would be fun to put a couple of photo flashbacks up for Heather's birthday today. When we all graduated we planned to write a round-robin letter between all of us.... one person starts it, mails it, the next person adds to it, and mails on to the next person.... kind of like the sisterhood of the traveling pants, but we didn't have any pants. I don't think the letters ever made even one full round. Ah well - good intentions!! I think I can still remember what everyone's favorite lunch items were!
The next picture is from Jazz Night... I'm guessing Senior year... but it could be Junior year. Heather has a stellar memory, so she will be able to tell us for sure. I'm just guessing senior year because why else would we take this picture?!?

Random Thoughts by Jill
So - have any of you been to the new drive-thru lanes that McDonald's has - with the two ordering lanes?!?!
It's like McDonald's took the one place where you don't have to worry about not getting in the "wrong" line, and stolen that beautiful gift away. It is now possible to get into the wrong line at the McDonald's drive-thru. I will agree that for the most part, it's a great new system. AND - if you do choose the wrong line you'll only be one car further back than you should have been after the merge. (Unlike at the toll booth lane when you pick the shorter line that ends up taking much longer because three drivers up - they don't have any change!) So, the merge - another interesting mystery - how do they know who merged first? Which order belongs to which car? They ARE tricky.
Also - I was at Meijer today - contemplating the self-check-out lane, or the regular lane. I chose the regular lane since I had some produce, and didn't want to spend the extra time looking t up myself. Plus, sometimes... don't you just want to be served? Why is everything going to self-service?? So, anyway - I chose the regular lane, and I completely regretted it by the time I was walking out. I don't know about you, but when I unpack my grocery cart onto the conveyor I put my items in the order that I would like them packed into bags. All of the boxed items together, the canned foods together, the toiletries together, etc.... Tonight as the cashier put my items into the bags she turned her turnstile after each scan and mix-matched all of my groceries into random sacks - and gave me a ton of extra plastic sacks that I truly didn't need.
Is correctly packing a grocery sack just a lost art form? Guess I'll be visiting the self-check out more often.... I can get through just as fast as the cashier ----------- unless I pick the wrong self-check out machine to wait in line for.

A Makeover, A Blitz, and A Poll
Hello, There! And Welcome to New and Improved Harder Holler! I've decided that this special month of blogging deserved an entirely new background.
30 days of blogging bliss! I won't cheat and count this as day 1. We will actually start tomorrow and blog for 30 days straight from May 18 - June 18.
Thank-YOU to those that sponsored us and helped make this blogging blitz possible! We raised a combined $260 for Race For the Cure!!
The Poll results show a strong desire to hear from Dave on this blog.... don't worry, I'm not offended. :) haha. He accused me of voting for this over and over, but I didn't vote at all in the poll. So - we will have a new weekly feature: Dictation by Dave. The poll also showed a strong desire to hear from Snickers... don't worry - again, I'm not offended. :) We will also try to feature some of the other popular blogging topics from the poll last week.
Thank-you for caring and for tuning in! Please tune in tomorrow for a blog on how the race went!
